~bUrNoUt~

Step1
Burnout can be subjective too as people react differently to the same events, but it can occur in anyone and the best to not have burnout occur is to avoiding before it happens. In Japan they have a specific word which is “karoshi” which actually means “death from overwork” and burnout has vast effects on the employee or manager as they may become more withdrawn to do even the simplest task. Usually in the workforce burnout is explained by having a high job demand and low job control at the same time, of course each job and company will have different situations.

Step2
The main characteristics of burnout at work is noticing more tardiness, absenteeism, a low mood in the workplace, more angry employees that will yell at anything or anyone especially if this is out of character for them and of course if customers’ complaints get higher.

Step3
The best way to avoid arriving at the burnout stage is to recognize the signs. Two psychologists Freudenberger and North have actually divided this process in twelve different steps, some of these phases are: a strong compulsion of working harder, neglecting your own needs on a personal basis therefore dismissing friends, families and hobbies, inner emptiness and depression to name a few.

Step4
To avoid burnout the first step is to notice if in the company there are certain periods where there can be work overload, and since long term periods of overwork will creative burnout it is best to act before hand. In these period the company, or an employee can suggest it, can hire additional full time employees or even temporary ones to avoid a major cost in the long run.

Step5
If your company has an EAP (Employee Assistant Program) take advantage of it, which includes confidential counseling, or even workshops to handle work pressures

Step6
Another good tip is to talk about it be it with your significant other or friends and if you feel pressured and overworked sometimes talking about it can help.

Step7
Take a few days off, if you know that there is a overwork coming and at that point you know you can not miss work, take the days right before that period so you can come back energized.

Step8
Try not to withdraw from your personal life as much as you want too because then your burnout will be more pronounced.

How to Boost Your Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem

Step1
You can boost your self-confidence by becoming a positive thinker. Think positive thoughts and turn any negative thoughts into positive ones. Change the "self-talk" that we all have. Change your inner recording. When you wake up in the morning, think of all of the positive things that are going to happen that day.

Step2
Boost your self-esteem by working on changing any negative behavior. If you're a procrastinator, stop procrastinating. For more on procrastinating, please click on my article on this page. If you tend to doubt yourself and your abilities, get out and physically do something. If feel that you're lacking self-confidence because you need to lose weight, get out and start walking. As a wise friend once told me, "move a muscle, change a thought".

Step3
Set realistic goals for yourself. If you need to, break these goals down into smaller chunks so that they will be easier to manage. Accomplish those goals! This will help boost your self-confidence more than you can imagine. Know that you have what it takes!

Step4
Put positive messages all around your house and your office at work. If you're a student, put them in your dorm. These messages should say things like, "Believe in Yourself", "I am Special", and "I am Loved".

Tips & Warnings

  • No put downs! Squash the critical voice in your head!
  • If you tend to doubt yourself and your abilities, do ONE POSITIVE THING TODAY!
  • Tomorrow, DO ANOTHER!
  • Remember that baby steps are better than no steps at all.
  • Don't let anything get in your way!

Step1
Determine whether or not you have exhausted every method available to change the outcome of the situation. Eliminate your self doubt by realizing that you have truly done everything you could and that nothing you do in the future changes what happens.

Step2
Examine your fate rationally and dispassionately. Deconstruct the situation and identify the pros and cons of your fate. Ask yourself how you would feel about your fate if it belonged to someone else.

Step3
Let go of your desire to change the situation. Just because you know logically that you cannot change things doesn't mean you won't continue to try to think of ways to do just that. Acknowledge that you are not responsible and that the failure or success is beyond your control.

Step4
Identify the positives associated with the outcome you expect and focus on them. Knowing that to experience something good from the situation, however minor, helps you become more comfortable accepting your fate.

Step5
Look to the future. Turn your attention to another matter that you have more control over. Distracting yourself with other thoughts helps you ride out the situation.

~how to be a positive person~

Step1
We all know how hard life can be and how times in our lives can make us feel miserable, depressed, lonely, scared, angry, hurt and sad. There are a few things you can do to become a more positive person and to not let the negative ruin you.

Step2
We all run into people who are negative all the time. Sometimes, their negativity rubs off on us. What is more disturbing is when we return that negativity or pass it on to another person. The negative in this world is the evil of this world. The more positive energy everyone gains, the negative is defeated!

Step3
For instance, a dad yells at his son instead of talking to him. That son then grows up to yell at his kids the same way--negativity repeated. A wife listens to the husband yell, and, although she is a positive person, the constant yelling rubs off on her. She begins yelling at her daughter and the story goes on.

Step4
To turn this into a positive situation, talk to your children. Explain why what they did was wrong and what they can learn from it. There’s no need to yell. Yelling won’t work in any situation. Keep yourself in a positive environment. If family members tend to be on the negative side, gently pull them to the positive.

Step5
When negative energy enters, cover it with positive: praises, rewards and appreciations for the positive things in the situation.

Step6
Be a happy, healthy person. Take care of your body and it will take care of you. Eat the right foods to promote positive health! Take time out for yourself to focus on everything positive in your life. Have faith that your life is full of joy, peace and love. Everything that you feel good about now will only feel better when all of the negative is gone and only positive feelings live!

Step1
Look for the best qualities of others and yourself. Take advantage of situations where you can exercise your best qualities and highlight those of others. Record your thoughts daily and review them to visualize what affects us and how. Schedule a window for quiet time each day.

Step2
Give others the same dignity that you would expect to receive. Recognize that status or income levels do not make the man nor determine his value. Take time to actually hear what others have to say instead of interjecting your own personal thoughts or simply not paying attention.

Step3
Become involved in what others have to say by asking sincere questions and waiting for an answer. This will enhance your relationships, allowing you to make positive contributions to a healthy friendship.

Step4
Provide assistance to others when needed, going out of your way if necessary. Acts of kindness are often met with reciprocal acts of kindness. You are further demonstrating how to be a better person and reaping the rewards from your efforts while making others feel special.

Step5
Empathize with others' plights or circumstances. Listening to your heart and following it instead of being judgmental contributes to your being a better person. Being honest in your dealings with others also promotes positive relationships. Problems arise when the truth is not spoken or twisted to suit one's motives. Choose your words carefully and precisely. Express yourself kindly.

Step6
Develop a set of standards and live by them. Don't allow others' viewpoints to alter your code of ethics. Maintaining your personal values during difficult times will help you to be a better person.
